PanAsh Natural Stone Rainscreen Cladding

"PanAsh Natural Stone Rainscreen Cladding"
Until now, facing a building with natural stone has only been possible using conventional building techniques and trades.
Now there's a better alternative - a rainscreen system that utilises beautiful natural sandstone panels as the exterior cladding which provides a much more natural and aesthetically pleasing look to the whole structure.
The Benefits of PanAsh Natural Stone Rainscreen:
- Attractive Finish - Open joints with no visible fixings.
- Construction Programme - The speed of erection and exclusion of wet trades helps time sensitive projects be completed on time independent of the weather.
- Lightweight System - Leading to significant savings on the costs of the structural element of the project.
- Flexibility - As the system is off the critical path and each stone is independently supported.
- Ease of Specification - Stone, fixings, insulation and installation are all taken account of with the PanAsh System.
Rainscreen Cladding is a layered system comprising an "outer skin", a ventilated gap and a waterproofed backing wall.
The "outer skin" provides the actual rain screen and forms the primary rain barrier as well as being the primary aesthetic treatment for the building. This outer skin sheds the majority of water down its external surfaces, yet allows air and some water through the open joints - this has the effect of allowing
the building structure to "breathe".
Technical
PanAsh is a complete system comprising:
- a stone outer-leaf rail system
- associated stone fixings in accordance with the relevant British Standards
This whole system has been fully tested to a bespoke testing regime designed by the BRE. This is to ensure its performance for the project's lifespan.
The installation service includes a complete technical design service offering a variety of fixing techniques to allow for changes in plan etc., optimisation of module layout, thermal performance and project location. All of this is covered by a project specific warranty where required. The standard panel sizes are shown below but other configurations may be available upon request. Each panel is independently supported on undercut anchors as shown opposite.
Stone thickness from 35 mm.
PanAsh Panel Sizes
| Length (mm) | Height (mm) |
| 750 | 500 |
| 750 | 450 |
| 600 | 400 |
| 600 | 300 |
| 500 | 250 |
| 450 | 300 |

Walling

"Standard architectural masonry range"
Designed for ease of use, our standard walling range is available in a range of three sizes and four finishes:
Sizes:
- All the standard formats have both bed and perpend faces sawn.
- The bed dimension is a nominal 100mm.
- All units are of random length.
- Up to three standard course heights are available (depending on the texture selected): 65mm, 140mm, 215mm.
- For details on manufacturing tolerances, see Note 1 below.
- All components are based on a 10mm joint.
Textures
Pitched Face

Historically a method of flattening stone for use in a wide range of buildings, the pitched face has now become the most common finish for use in housing and commercial developments throughout the northern half of the British Isles. Originally produced by hand, it is now produced using the latest technology.
Split Face
A less pronounced, flatter texture than pitched face. The stone is processed through a cropping machine to leave a raw face. Due to the intrinsic nature of the sedimentary rocks, it is common for the stone to split with either a convex or concave face, which can result in some variation of bed width. Where this is inappropriate, further site work of the stone should be specified. Split face is not appropriate for all stone types; for guidance on suitability of a specific stone, talk to us on 01629 653000.
Cottage
Local planning requirements and the increasing difficulty in finding reliable sources of reclaimed material for sensitive locations, can make sourcing natural stone a problem. Cottage walling from Stancliffe can provide the ideal solution: an additional tumbling process after the stone has been cropped creates a stone which has eroded arrises, but still has sawn beds to allow easy construction.
Rubbed Face Walling
A finely dressed and jointed walling style. These blocks are finely finished to give the overall appearance of a bespoke solution.
Note: it is important to always work from 3 to 4 packs in order to gain a blend of colours and lengths.

Walling Dimension Tolerances
A-Length: random
B-Height: +/-5mm
C-Width: -10mm/+15mm Measurements relate to front to rear bed line, and do not take into account any deviation (concave or convex) created when splitting this natural material.
