High Nick Beige Sandstone

HIGH NICK BEIGE SANDSTONE

A beige coloured lower carboniferous sandstone, which has been extracted from the High Nick Quarry in East Woodburn, Northumberland since 1897.

High Nick beige sandstone is mainly fine grained, beige to pale brown, with numerous fine iron spots across the stone. The characteristic fine iron spots fondly nicknamed ‘scotch eggs’ offer a unique design opportunity.

A popular choice for traditional sandstone walling across the North East of England and Yorkshire.
