STONE DESCRIPTION:
A Permian sandstone extracted from the Scratchmill and West Brownrigg quarries located close to Penrith in Cumbria, quarry records date from 1878.
It consistent salmon pink colour is enhanced by the sparkle of quartz grains within the medium grained sandstone.
Plumpton Red Lazonby Sandstone is suitable for both traditional walling and cladding and masonry to specification.
PROJECT SUMMARY:
This purpose build complex played a key part in hosting swimming events in the 2002 Commonwealth Games. The Manchester Aquatic Centre provides excellent facilities for residents in the Manchester area, consisting of a 50 metre competition pool, a 25 metre diving pool and extensive leisure waters with flumes and bubble pools, with an additional 50 metre training pool, which is used by elite swimming squads.
THE BUILD SOLUTION:
This striking building features sections of Plumpton Red Lazonby sandstone cladding throughout the design with a curved metal roof and glazed end walls to a height of 10 meters.
