NATURAL STONE
For centuries natural stone has been quarried and worked to produce outstanding architecture across the British Isles.
Natural stone provides an attractive, high quality, durable finish to both residential and commercial buildings. Stancliffe stones are all indigenous to the UK – sourced from quarries located in Scotland, England and Wales. Each is unique in terms of its performance, character, colour and texture. The range includes sandstone and limestones and Ironstone, all of which are sedimentary natural stone types. All the stones have been formed over many millions of years, forming part of our historic landscape – as deserts, riverbeds or the seabed.
Stancliffe Stone has a long heritage of natural stone for building: building records of many of the Stancliffe stones date back decades and in some cases centuries. Quarrying and masonry production at some of the Stancliffe sites has been continuous since the early 1800s.
Stancliffe Stone is keen to preserve the heritage of British natural stone: ensuring that plentiful reserves of natural stone are readily available for conservation, refurbishment and new build projects across the UK. All Stancliffe Stones are tested by independent sources on a regular basis in line with European Standards. Stancliffe stones are suitable for both traditional and modern methods of construction.
