The Unveiling of Fryderyk Chopin Statue in Manchester

The Unveiling of Fryderyk Chopin Statue in Manchester Publish Date: 19/09/2011

Standing in the commercial heart of Manchester on a refurbished square outside Centurion House on Deansgate. The 2.5 metre wide statue, a stylised bronze of the composer seated at the piano, created by Polish sculptor, Robert Sobocinski, is set into position on a natural block of Locharbriggs red sandstone.

Stancliffe Stone was delighted to support this project, supplying the 7 tonne block of Locharbriggs red sandstone - quarried from the oldest, largest working red sandstone stone quarry in Scotland.

Specifically chosen as a match to the many historic red sandstone, landmark buildings within Manchester, the red sandstone plinth, beautifully finished by Locharbriggs stone masons provides the monument with a fitting and distinctive, natural platform.
