Locharbriggs Sandstone is a Permian Sandstone. The stone is extracted from the Locharbriggs quarry on the outskirts of Dumfries in Scotland. It is medium grained in texture, free of clay holes and other impurities and is characterised by its red or pink colouring. The quarry has been operating since 1890, contributing over a century of production of this durable stone. The red sandstone from this quarry is considered to be the finest found and has been used to build several famous landmarks.
