Stancliffe Stone Were Pleased To Support Greenscene Promoting Traditional Stonemason Skills in Scotland

Greenscene is an annual event aimed at local primary schools in Scotland.
Children (10-11 years) are introduced to a number of masonry activities included:
• Introductions to geology and building stones
• Designing and carving a ‘masons mark’
• Working with stonemasons tools and dressing stone

Stancliffe Stone supplied all the limestone blocks required for the demonstrations on stone dressing together with smaller pieces of limestone for the children to design and work their own ‘masons mark’.
Richard Groom and Mel Shepherd - Construction Skills, were on hand to help the children try out the stonemasons tools for themselves.
