Stancliffe Expands Natural Stone Capabilities With Stoke Hall Quarry Acquisition Publish Date: 25/11/2005

We are very pleased to announce that Stancliffe Stone has increased its resources for supplying building stone, commercial paving, ashlar and architectural masonry for use on building and commercial projects, with the acquisition of Stoke Hall Quarry. The quarry and works are set in Grindleford in the Derbyshire Peak District. Stancliffe has taken over the quarry, stone works and 20-strong team at Stoke Hall from the current owners who are retiring.

Stoke Hall has an excellent reputation for intricate masonry work which is used predominately in commercial settings, private house developments, bespoke elegant fireplaces and heritage and restoration projects. Following the acquisition, Stancliffe’s stone masons will move across to Stoke Hall to create a masonry centre of excellence. The acquisition will add to Stancliffe’s existing capabilities in these areas, as well as diversifying the range of stone available from the company and ensures that indigenous natural sandstones are available well into the future. The Stoke Hall Quarry stone is a carboniferous Millstone Grit, pale buff in colour and an excellent example of fine Derbyshire sandstone.
