Heanor Wings and Wheel Gateway Sculpture

Heanor Wings and Wheel Gateway Sculpture Publish Date: 26/08/2011

As part of the Heanor Masterplan, a public art feature to compliment the town and create an attractive welcome was commissioned by the council.

Local artist, Rachel Carter created a sculpture that incorporates local materials including Derbyshire Sandstone the local building stone.

Stancliffe Stone donated a large block of Stanton Moor sandstone which created the base for the modern sleek stainless steel wings and wheel elements to stand on.

The Landmark takes its inspiration from the local heritage and the wings reflect the historical local links of the firm I&R Morley who contributed to the growth and prosperity of the town.
