Locharbriggs quarry is of particular interest to the membership, quarried since the 18th century the site is one of the oldest, largest, working red sandstone quarries in Scotland, still providing comprehensive masonry processing facility for both new build and restoration projects.
Jim Martin – Geological Society of Glasgow (GSOG) "We rarely have the opportunity to visit a working extraction and processing site," he continued, "it certainly made me realise the importance of the UK stone industry, how the products can enhance the built environment, and the industry's value to 'community UK'."
