Brassington Primary Schools Outdoor Learning Area
Publish Date: 08/07/2011
In keeping with the school’s environmentally-friendly ethos, the outdoor learning area has been produced from locally sourced, sustainable materials. Their plain grassy playing field has been transformed into a new educational environment with raised beds, a willow dome and tunnels and a recycled greenhouse all designed to support the children’s learning and development. An amphitheatre built from Jacksdale tumbled walling; a natural sandstone product locally produced and donated to the project by Stancliffe Stone provides the school with an outside classroom. Students are now able to continue their nature and wildlife studies outdoors instead of going back into their school classrooms.
